A Life Well Lived

Attending funerals is not high on my list of things to do. I've been to too many already in my soon to be 42 years of life. I must say, however, that the service on Saturday for Dr. Dallas E. Shafer was a celebration of his life, all he did for God's kingdom and all the love he shared with the world, no matter who you were.

Over 2,000 people came to show their respect, love and thanks to a man who gave all he have, every day of his life. His final wishes were for us all to take the baton and carry on his mission of serving others. Even at his funeral, he was thinking of others and blessing others. Truly, he lived life well.

He challenged each of us to do our best, be our best and give our best...which only can happen when we are right with the Lord. So in the midst of sorrow, bright light came...a reminder of who loves us and whose we are.
