Wake Up and Pay Attention People!

I laugh every time I see the commercial for Pepsi Max, "Wake up people!" Unfortunately, it is too close to reality. People are under spells...walking zombies! They don't ever seem to be "in the moment" or aware of their surroundings. The other day, a woman was so busy talking on her cell phone, that she couldn't manuever her vehicle out of the parking space. Instead of getting off her phone and driving, she just stopped and blocked traffic in two directions. In the grocery store, a lady was placing one item every so often on the checkout stand because she was holding her phone and couldn't do both things at once. Again, she didn't stop talking but expected the line of people behind her to What is up people!

Have we lost all sense of courtesy and manners? I was raised better than that, and most mothers would hope they did the same. We are getting lazy and self-centered. Stressful and tough times can bring out the worst in people...don't let it happen to you! I jokingly say that the government must be releasing stupid gas in the air, because people are doing stupid stuff! But it is just a matter of waking up, paying attention and being kind. If we each treat another person with a helping hand and smile, we might see a different world emerge.
